2009 Christmas Letter

2009 ABC’s of the Sheridan Household
ADORABLE! Some of the cute things Lexi said this year: Dad: “Who’s your best friend?” Lexi: “My Daddy!” Mom: “Who made you so smart?” Lexi: “God.” Lexi: “Mommy I go to Kindergarten today!” Lexi: “Thank you for coming!” Lexi (when we pass by Starbucks): “I want a Skinny Caramel Latte and an Apple Cider.” Uh oh!!
BIG Brother and BIG Sister – They adore their little sister, and the feeling is definitely mutual:)
CINDERELLA and her lil’ pumpkin is what the girls went as for Halloween. This year was a blast!!!! Lexi thanked everyone for her candy and before blinking an eye would say, “Next house!” It was pretty cute.
DADA is the word Linzi is currently trying to say. She jabbers a lot. Lexi tells me that, “Sissy is telling stories.” Devin says that Linzi is going to say Bubba before Momma…I’ve got my work cut out for me! (NOTE: as this letter was going to press, 12/2/09, Linzi woke up, saw her daddy and said, “Dada”… melts my heart… except I can see the writing on the wall and that makes for TWO (2) daddy’s girls What about mommy?)
EXPECTATIONS – These are constantly changing!! Both for the good and bad
FOOTBALL – Devin played Pop-Warner this year and it brought back SO many memories!! We went to most of his away games and we, including the girls, LOVED it!!! Can’t wait for next season!
GYMNASTICS – Lexi tried a class recently. She seemed to really like it and I think we’ll resume after the New Year. We need a way to get out some of her ENERGY!
HIMALAYA – My brother welcomed his first daughter into the world in late April. Congratulations Tommy and Mary!!
IUD – a very long story! After a lot of doctors and hospital visits, 3 procedures, 2 surgeries and 3 scars… it’s out!!! It’s VERY rare but happened to me!
JAYDON – Tommy’s sister welcomed her first son into the world at the beginning of July. Congratulations David and Stephanie!!
KICKBOXING – The gym offers a turbo class and I LOVE it!! I’m trying to work it back into my routine…
LINZI NICOLE – After a LONG, crazy “scheduled” c-section day she finally made her appearance at 7:42pm on 3/3/09. She weighed 7lbs 10oz and was 19 ½ in long! She’s an awesome addition to our family!
MANNERS AND MAKE BELIEVE – Lexi has impeccable manners. She even says thank you to the automatic doors that open for her when she goes into the store. She cracks us up! And just recently she really started getting into playing and pretending. It is amazing to watch her grow and learn!
NEW JOB – The partner I worked for at DLA asked me to come with her to start an online law firm. I get to work from home 4 days a week! It’s awesome!!!!
ONE MORE? I don’t think so… as much as we love our children we think we’re done! Give us a couple of years, we may change our minds
PITCHING is the position that Devin started playing during baseball season. He’s really good!
QUIET – Something our household doesn’t have very often!
REUNION – My high school class had our 10-year reunion over the 4th of July weekend in Weed. It was a lot of fun to see people I haven’t seen in a long time. We decided to make a family trip out of it and watched the fireworks from the resort in Mt. Shasta with Devin and friends. It was great fun!
SACRAMENTO – In September our address officially changed back to Sacramento. After a long hard look at things we realized for our family we had to move back. We LOVE to have visitors so please feel free to come by anytime. We would love it! Lexi asks me every day, “Mom, who’s coming tonight?” It’s very cute!
TRIAL… during the same month as having a child?? I wouldn’t recommend it!! It made for a really crazy, sleepless month!! Tommy just read over this letter and thinks we should add T is for TIRED! We are tired:)
URINARY REFLUX – Lexi had her follow-up appt in April and was downgraded. Most likely she’ll grow out of it and no need for surgery. Linzi also had a VCUG to make sure she didn’t have any signs! Luckily she didn’t. Yay!
VARIOUS – The girls are still at their Spanish speaking daycare 3x/wk and they love it! Lexi comprehends a ton of Spanish and speaks quite a bit! Linzi is standing by herself now! Scary!! Devin is in 5th grade! What??? Tommy’s department is staying busy during this economic downturn and we are thankful. He just had an argument in front of the Court of Appeals and many other trials and big motions he’s been working on. He’s getting great experience and MOST days loves his job! And I am busy as ever in every aspect it seems like. We feel thankful the drive for us is over and grateful to God for everything He’s blessed us with!
WATER – Lexi loved playing in her pool this summer and really loves anything that has to do with water!
X-BOX – Tommy’s favorite past time! Playing x-box online with his buddies A few times they’ve come over to play too! Seems silly to me, but he enjoys it so that’s what is important.
YUMMY – Linzi loves to eat “big girl” food now and Lexi loves to feed her!! What a mess:)
ZOO – Sometimes our house feels like that and unfortunately we haven’t visited one this year. But we’ve been to Fairy Tale town 2x, pumpkin patches, parks galore, and petting zoos so it’s made up for it!

I hope you enjoyed our letter this year! I sure enjoy writing them!
From our home to yours we want to wish you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! May God Bless each one of you!
Love,
The Sheridan’s Tom, Melissa, Devin, Lexi and Linzi

THANKSGIVING and Christmastime

This year for Thanksgiving we had friends and family over to our place!!! It was sooo much fun! Tommy deep-fried a turkey (yes, I was a little nervous!!!) but it turned out awesome and seemed to be a HIT!!!!! And everyone brought dishes to share. Of course I can only seem to find one picture of the event -- the main event (doesn't it look awesome!) -- but I'll try and steal them from other blogs later:) It sure is nice to have great family and friends to share a great meal with at such a great time of year!!! Love you all:)

Christmas this year was soooo awesome! I started getting excited about it in OCTOBER! Seriously!!!! I don't know if it was knowing that Lexi would understand better or that there was another baby to share it with??? Whatever it was, I could hardly contain myself!!! I even got my Christmas cards done and out BEFORE Christmas!!! (I'm adding my Christmas letter to the next post so that I can remember what I put in it and if you didn't get one last year. Get me your address and I'll include you next year!!!)
But before I get to that! We also continued our Christmas tradition with the Adamson's and decorated Rose's tree! It was sooo much fun this year! A little different because it started when I was pregnant with Lexi therefore all of the kids were little, but now that we have 4 running around it made for a little more interesting time. Here are the pics before and after! Thank you Rose and I can't wait to continue our tradition in 2010 (and hopefully it won't take me almost a year to blog about it!! LOL!!!)

BEFORE

AFTER

December was full of Christmas parties (Tommy got invited to 2 separate client ones as well as his work one and we were able to go to attend all 3!!!, Hannah's graduation including a visit from Auntie Aliscia, a visit from Uncle Erich, and lots of family and friends. And this year Tommy decided that we should get tickets to go to the midnight Christmas service at our new church Bayside Granite Bay! At first I thought he was crazy but it was AMAZING!!! And I think it will become a new tradition. First we went Christmas light looking (and found some AMAZING illuminary neighborhoods -- i didn't even know anything existed soooo cool), and then we went to church. Grandma Donna and Chuck joined us and it was an incredible experience. If you are in the Sacrament area and you have a chance to visit any of the 12 Christmas services they offer... it's WELL WORTH IT!!!

This is Hannah getting her RN pin!!! We are sooo proud of you Hannah! Your hard work sure paid off!!!

This is a picture of Auntie Aliscia with everyone.

This year Devin came down before Christmas so this was his "Christmas morning."

And he was very excited to see the X-Box 360 he wanted!!!!
These next two are from the actual Christmas morning!

This is Linzi with her 2 favorite items. The chair and her stocking:)

Here is Lexi on her new bike! Her face was PRICELESS!!!!!
What a wonderful time of year!!!
Tommy sent me on a treasure hunt for my present this year! He is sooo creative and thoughful! Thank you babe:)

Fall 09' (yes you read it correctly!)

No excuses, I'm just a TERRIBLE blogger!!!! I love it and want to capture memories, I'm just plain not good at it!!! Uggg. Here are some pictures from fall to catch me up:) Man, the girls have gotten soooo big:)

This is one of our many visits to pumpkin patches during last fall. We went with some dear friends of ours to Bishops Pumpkin patch in Wheatland. Our friends have girls that are the same age as our girls so we've had many play dates! Here are the older girls being silly:)

We moved down the street from two pumpkin patches so it was not uncommon for us to go down just to visit a couple of times a week. Lexi loved running around and Linzi loved watching her:) This time, it appears it was naptime for Linzi.

The girls and I had another play date at Fairy Tale town the Friday before Halloween. Here is us in Cinderella's Carriage.

That weekend Tommy worked on the backyard, with Lexi's help, as you can see! She loves helping her daddy and doing whatever he does. It was cute though because then she came running in to tell me that she got dirty! Oh my! She is a true princess!

True sisters! Lexi just teasing her sister with her sucker... Look at that look on Linzi's face!!! Poor Linzi...

This year Lexi was Cinderella and Linzi was her pumpkin. (I also had pictures taken by Deanna (www.deannagallardophotography.com)-- see above) Grandma Donna and Chuck came down and thoroughly enjoyed taking the girls around our neighborhood! And Lexi LOVED trick-or-treating! She went up to each house (once she got warmed up) knocked on the door said trick or treat, thank you and "next house!" I guess I should be thankful she said thank you:) We laughed each time and luckily our neighbors were understanding of our 2 1/2 year old:)

This is Linzi and Baby dog:( (Grandma Donna's doggie) She passed away shortly thereafter but was a great family dog that Lexi still asks about! So sad:( But I just think the expression on both of their faces is sooo precious!

We had been looking for a table for the girls for awhile and one night Tommy came home with this. Linzi was 8mo old and Lexi was 2.5. They LOVE this table and play at it all of the time. Linzi even sat in that chair "playing" for probably an hour! She was so excited!

Here is Linzi and her buddy Addison. They are a day apart and we try to get the girls together once a month but sometimes we forget to take pictures:) Anyhow, this was a new toy and they just had soooo much fun! Of course the moms do too!!!!

Here is Lexi and Linzi just playing in their house. I just love looking back at their pictures and seeing how great they are together. Lexi continues to say that Linzi is her best friend (in addition to Daddy of course!) but I truly hope that it continues forever. Having not grown up with a sister I don't understand but think that love is just so special!!!
Next up... Christmas:)

A little catching up to do:)

I know I know I'm a terrible blogger!!!! I LOVE IT THOUGH!!!! I thought when I worked from home I would have all of this extra time! Turns out I have to actually work:) And after we moved it took awhile to find everything to upload pics! And now my excuse is that the camera is out in the car, I haven't uploaded pics since my last post, and its POURING down rain!!!!! So I'm going to post pictures that Deanna took for us and try and catch up maybe this weekend... no promises:) This was a photo shoot that we did for Linzi's 6mo pics. Although she was one day from being 7mo. It just so turns out that it was close to Halloween so Deanna asked if I had their costumes yet. Since I did Lexi got a few pics taken too:)
I've seen Deanna take a few of kids in buckets and I just love the way these turned out! Here a few of my favorite of this shoot.
Hi everyone, I'm 7 mo old tomorrow:)
LOVE IT!!!!

Here is a comparison of the girls. Lexi was about 9mo in this pic but since the pose is similar I thought I would use it:) I'm so glad we got a picture like this:) I don't think the girls look alike right now, but this makes me think they totally will:)

And here are the girls Halloween costumes. Lexi wanted to be Cinderella and I wanted to find a mouse costume but since I couldn't find one Deanna said, "Cinderella's little pumpkin would be cute!" And of course they have those costumes everywhere! So that is what I got! I think they are pretty stinking cute too!!!
We couldn't get any of them together... something a little doctoring was able to fix:)
Our happy little Cinderella!
And our adorable little pumpkin!
Hope you enjoy!!!
